Despite the fact that The Kinemorphic 3D Screen Saver ships with hundreds of preset displays, there are plenty of effects and capabilities of the software that are not demonstrated. This section of the documentation is intended for users who would like to explore the full capabilities of the software and create their own displays.
A Display is comprised of one or more modules and an environment. The modules
provide the structure of the shapes used in the display while the environment will
determine how lighting, textures, and backgrounds are applied. To select which modules are
used, right click your mouse on the Module Icon (looks like a gray 'M') to bring
up the Options Menu and then select the module you wish to use from the
"Add Module" sub menu. Each of the modules you select will be
added to the Display hierarchy. You can edit the controls for the
modules you've added by selecting the module you want to edit in the Display
hierarchy and the controls for that module will appear to the right.
Here is a short example demonstrating how to create a Display that uses the Cyclic module...
Bring up the The Kinemorphic 3D Screen Saver configuration dialog
Change to the “Edit Displays” page of the configuration dialog
Remove all of the modules in the existing display (shown in the Display hierarchy window) by selecting them with a left-mouse click and then pressing the delete key on the keyboard.
Right click with the mouse on the Module Icon (looks like a gray 'M') to bring up the Options Menu and then select the Cyclic module from the "Add Module" sub menu.
Bring up the controls for the Cyclic module by selecting in the Display hierarchy window with a left-mouse click.
Alter the Cyclic controls in whatever way you wish.
Bring up the controls for the Environment by selecting one of the settings screens beneath it with a left-mouse click.
Alter the Environment controls in whatever way you wish.
Press the “Save As” button and save the new settings with an appropriate name.
You now have a display that uses the Cyclic module
